Biography

Dr. Bian received the Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium) in 2018, and the M.Eng. in Nutrition and Food Safety from China Agricultural University (Beijing, China) in 2014. She was awarded multiple Chinese National Scholarships in recognition of her passionate pursuit of science during her educational endeavors. She has authored over 20 SCI listed papers and holds four national innovation patents. She serves as a Youth Editor of The Innovation- Cell Press, a Review Editor of the Frontiers in Analytical Science Journal and as a reviewer for several other international journals. In 2022, she was awarded a Youth Science Fund grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

Research Interests and Project

Dr. Bian is actively involved in the state-of-art therapeutic drug monitoring techniques to better precision medicine. At CenBRAIN Neurotech, Dr. Bian currently focuses on three research projects: 1) Rapid optical biosensors for SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) in dried blood spot samples. Precise monitoring of SARS-CoV2 NAbs is of great importance for investigating the immune response of COVID-19 and evaluating the vaccines safety for regular and booster doses. Signal-enhanced biolayer interferometry (BLI) technique, integrated with dried blood spot self-sampling, enables rapid biosensing of NAbs within minutes; 2) Towards continuous drug monitoring (TDM) of anti-epileptic drug. Advanced TDM is an effective tool to improve the precision medicine of small drugs including antiepileptic drugs by providing in-time information about an individual's response to therapeutics. At CenBRAIN, advanced TDM for AED will be implemented by microfluidic and interdigitated electrodes or microelectrode arrays integrated biosensors for immediate test; 3) Investigating the connections between superantigens (SAgs) and neurodegenerative diseases. The purpose is to understand better the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases and explore alternative solutions for effective treatment.
