Yankun Xu obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Information Engineering from Shanghai Institute of Technology (Shanghai, China). He pursued his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering of Electrical Engineering Department from Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg, Sweden). He finished his master thesis in MedTech West which is a research institute founded by hospital and Chalmers. In September 2019, he joined the Center of Excellence in Biomedical Research on Advanced Integrated-on-chips Neurotechnologies (CenBRAIN Neurotech), Westlake University as a Ph.D. candidate.
Yankun Xu is interested in applying advanced AI techniques, e.g., Machine/Deep Learning, Signal/Image Processing, to solve biomedical problems, especially on the neurodegenerative diseases. He is interested on epileptic seizure detection and prediction. He has developed an end-to-end deep learning algorithm intended for accurate seizure prediction. Also, he applied Generative Adversarial Network to synthesize EEG-based preictal signal to improve the performance of seizure prediction further. Now, he is focusing on video-based seizure onset detection.
