Dr. Mahdi TARKHAN was born in 1984 in Iran. He got his M.Sc. in digital electronics from Sharif University of technology (Iran). He received his Ph.D. in analog electronics from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2018(Iran). His doctoral thesis entitled 'Design of a memristor-based fuzzy processor”. He used to be a university lecturer for more than 8 years and he also used to work as CEO of a knowledge-base company in Iran. He joined CenBRAIN as a postdoctoral fellow in Oct. 2020. He works on designing ICs intended for biomedical applications.
Analog and mixed-signal design intended for biomedical application:
Wearable and implantable biomedical devices need low-power, low-noise and high-gain interfaces. Several types of signals must be captured, filtered and amplified for further signal processing. Therefore, there is a need for analog interfaces to perform all the signal conditioning tasks and convert the signals to digital form to be processed by a digital processor. In biosensing projects, several types of interfaces are used based on the type of the sensor. Optical, capacitive and resistive signal conditioning interfaces to name a few.
