Biography

Dr. Bian is actively involved in the state-of-art therapeutic drug monitoring techniques to better precision medicine. At CenBRAIN Neurotech, Dr. Bian currently focuses on three research projects: 1) Rapid optical biosensors for SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) in dried blood spot samples. Precise monitoring of SARS-CoV2 NAbs is of great importance for investigating the immune response of COVID-19 and evaluating the vaccines safety for regular and booster doses. Signal-enhanced biolayer interferometry (BLI) technique, integrated with dried blood spot self-sampling, enables rapid biosensing of NAbs within minutes; 2) Towards continuous drug monitoring (TDM) of anti-epileptic drug. Advanced TDM is an effective tool to improve the precision medicine of small drugs including antiepileptic drugs by providing in-time information about an individual's response to therapeutics. At CenBRAIN, advanced TDM for AED will be implemented by microfluidic and interdigitated electrodes or microelectrode arrays integrated biosensors for immediate test; 3) Investigating the connections between superantigens (SAgs) and neurodegenerative diseases. The purpose is to understand better the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases and explore alternative solutions for effective treatment.

Research

Her research interest is integrating optical biosensor with organoids-on-chips and machine learning for precision medicine of inflammatory bowel disease and neurodegenerative diseases. Till now, she has authored over 30 SCI papers in high-quality journals including Biosensors & Bioelectronics, J. Pharm. Anal. (Cover Paper; Best Paper Award), Anal. Chim. Acta, Vaccines and Front.Bioeng.Biotechnol. She holds four national innovation patents and three PCTs. She was awarded multiple Chinese National Scholarships, KUL doctoral scholarship, the National Silver Award in the 1st China Postdoctoral Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, a Youth Science Fund grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China since 2022.
