Chengpeng Chai completed his B.S. degree in China Jiliang University, and his master's degree from University of Bristol, UK. In 2022, he joined the CenBRAIN Neurotech Center of Excellence, Westlake University, where he is undertaken his PhD program supervised by Prof. Mohamad Sawan. Chengpeng was selected for the CAST1Youth Science and Technology Talent Cultivation Program for Doctoral Students. He has published 9 manuscripts in prestigious journals and conferences. Also, he holds 5 national patents, and 1 U.S. patent.

His research focuses on multimodal non-invasive brain–computer interfaces integrating photoacoustic imaging (PAI) and optically pumped magnetometer magnetoencephalography (OPM-MEG). His work centers on multimodal sensor development, cross-modal information fusion, and neuroengineering applications, with the goal of advancing next-generation brain–computer interface technologies toward both fundamental research and clinical translation.
