Di Wu got his B.S. degree from the Department of Computer Science, Harbin Institute of Technology. After graduation, Di went to Boston University where he received his M.S in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Di also worked as machine learning engineer at a BCI startup company based in Boston. Currently, Di is a Ph.D. candidate in the Center of Excellence in Biomedical Research on Advanced Integrated-on-chips Neurotechnologies (CenBRAIN Neurotech) under supervision of Prof. Sawan.

His primary focus at CenBRAIN Labs lies in the domain of brain-machine interface (BCI) associated with deep learning, including self-supervised pre-training, representation learning, and transfer learning. Additionally, he is actively involved in research on neuro-prosthetics, particularly in areas such as forearm prosthetics, speech prosthetics, and visual prosthetics.
