Biography

Mansoor Ahmad received his B.E. degree in Electronics Engineering from Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, Karachi in 2012 and his Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University, Istanbul in 2019. His doctoral work focused on the design and fabrication of CMUTs for various applications, utilizing adhesive wafer bonding techniques. Between 2019 and 2022, he held academic roles in Pakistan, including Assistant Professor and Lecturer, and also coordinated hydroelectric power projects. In 2023, he joined the Westlake Institute for Optoelectronics, Westlake University, where he now serves as a Research Assistant Professor.


Research

Dr. Ahmad's research focuses on MEMS-based micromirror devices for retinal prosthesis and vision restoration, as well as flexible microelectrode arrays for recording and stimulation of electrically active tissues. He has expertise in micro/nano fabrication, biomedical instrumentation, and ultrasonic transducers. His past work includes leading projects on ultrasound-based bioparticle sorting, underwater acoustic systems, and bioelectronics. At Westlake University, he is currently advancing the development of next-generation MEMS devices and implantable platforms for neural stimulation, biosensing, and other biomedical applications aimed at improving diagnostics and therapeutic capabilities.
