Last week, Ph.D. student Chengpeng Chai from the CenBRAIN Neurotech Center of Excellence was invited by the residential colleges of Westlake University to deliver a unique research experience sharing for the first "College Vitamin" event of this semester.
What is the cutting-edge Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) technology and robotics?
How to apply advanced MS Office skills in research and learning?
Chengpeng elaborated on these questions, providing undergraduate students with a detailed introduction to the frontier technologies of brain-machine interfaces. He showcased videos of brain-controlled Continuum robot(Concentric tube robot) and discussed the progress of current brain-controlled rehabilitation exoskeletons. To aid in better understanding, he distributed our center’s flyer and welcomed them to visit.
Furthermore, he demonstrated the use of Word's multilevel lists, field codes, custom style sheets, and macros to enhance research efficiency, as well as efficient tips for using the Office suite including Endnote, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive. It was indeed a treasure trove of practical knowledge, greatly aiding students in improving their work efficiency!
Although it was his first-time sharing, the vibrant atmosphere of interaction left a deep impression on Chengpeng. "Despite being undergraduates, their curiosity about unfamiliar fields and interest in research are truly touching," he said.
He hopes to take part in more activities in the future to enhance students' understanding of research works as well as attract more students who are interested in research and eager to explore unknown fields to join us, working together to overcome challenges on the road to scientific research.
