Over 80 high school students from all around the world participated in the 2024 Westlake University Pre-college summer program at Westlake University. On July 11 and 12, CenBRAIN Neurotech Center of Excellence warmly welcomed these enthusiastic young learners. Here, students not only got to experience the academic vibe of our campus but also explored the amazing world where neuroscience and chip design technology come together.
PhD students and research assistants from our center introduced our works on non-invasive brain-machine interfaces. They used a remoted-controlled car to explain the phenomenon of muscle contraction and discharge, encouraging students to adopt scientific methods, in particular to to explore the principles of nerve discharge.
In the Microelectronics lab, we explained the working principles of transcranial magnetic stimulation devices. The students experienced the subtle effects of magnetic fields on the human body.
In the Biology lab, the Pre-College Summer Program students learned about our center's research on organoids. Currently, we are dedicated to culturing brain organoids to facilitate research on neurological diseases and drug development.
During these lab tours, we were excited to present our main research activities to the 80-plus students. Interacting with them, we hope to arouse their interest in the field of neuroscience and BCI, and we look forward to more opportunities for such exchanges and collaborations with the younger generation, and jointly contributing to scientific progress and technological innovation.
